गौरतलब है कि पीलीभीत संसदीय सीट से अपने राजनीतिक कैरियर की शुरूआत करने की तैयारी में लगे वरुण गांधी उत्तर प्रदेश के इस क्षेत्र में कथित संप्रदाय विरोधी भाषण के कारण सुर्खियों में आ गए थे। इस सीट का प्रतिनिधित्व वरुण की मां मेनका गांधी करती रही हैं। वरुण के भाषण की सीडी में मुस्लिम विरोधी बातें होने के कारण चुनाव अधिकारियों ने पीलीभीत में वरुण के खिलाफ एफआईआर दर्ज करने का निर्देश दिया था।

The application was moved by his lawyers before Chief Judicial Magistrate Vipin Kumar and is slated to be taken up for hearing during the day.
29-year-old Varun, who is making his electoral debut from Pilibhit left Delhi earlier in the day but changed his route from Mordabad.
En route to Pilibhit, two vehicles of Varun's cavalcade were seized by the police on charges of breach of peace and violation of prohibitory orders.
Ahead of the BJP candidate's arrival, party workers and saffron activists clashed with police.
Supporters shouting 'jai Shri Ram' tried to block roads to prevent the movement of police leading to a clash between the two sides. Some of the protesters were detained to tackle the situation.
Varun, who had earlier got anticipatory bail which ended on Friday, did not apply for extension of bail or go to the Supreme Court against the Allahabad High Court dismissing his petition seeking quashing of the FIR.
