एक लाख रुपए में कार का सपना दिखाने वाले रतन टाटा की नैनो हालांकि ग्राहकों को 1.20-1.30 लाख के बीच मिलेगी। अगर नैनो की एक्स शोरूम प्राइस एक लाख रहती है तो भी यह ग्राहक को सभी कर जोड़ने के बाद कम से कम 1.20 लाख की पड़ेगी। कार की बुकिंग 70 हजार रुपए जमा करवाकर की जा सकेगी। माना जा रहा है कि बुकिंग के तीन माह बाद ही नैनो ग्राहक को मिल पाएगी।
नैनो वैसे तो मारुति 800 के मुकाबले आठ फीसदी छोटी है लेकिन इसके अंदर की जगह 21 प्रतिशत ज्यादा है। इस कार में इंजन पीछे लगा हुआ है। कई नामी कंपनियों के हाई एंड स्पोर्ट्स वर्जन में ऐसा होता है, जैसे पोर्शे, फॅरारी, लैंबोर्गिनी। एंट्री लेवल कार के लिए यह सबसे नया फीचर है। डिजाइन है एयरोडायनामिक, जिससे पांच गियर वाली यह कार आठ सैकंड में ही 60 किमी की रफ्तार पकड़ लेगी। आगे-पीछे के व्हील का साइज अलग-अलग है। गाड़ी में सभी टायर ट्यूबलैस दिए गए हैं। ग्राउंड क्लीयरेंस भी करीब 18 सेमी है, जिससे इसे गांवों में चलाने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं होगी। माइलेज 22-23 किमी प्रति लीटर है।

The snub-nosed, 4-seater 623cc rear engine car is an idea and dream project of Tata group chairman Ratan Tata, who seeks to place his car as a milestone in humanity's auto history like Fords Model T, Volkswagens Beetle and the British Motor Corps Mini, said local daily The Times of India.
Ratan Tata promised in 2006 that he would make a car with a cost of only 2,000 U.S. dollars.
The project bumped into a political controversy in West Bengal, eastern India, where local politicians opposed giving land for constructing a Nano factory.
Tatas withdrew the project to Gujarat, western India, late last year and planed to produce cars in one year's time there with an annual production of 50,000-60,000 units.
