चुनाव के लिए केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य मंत्री अंबुमणि रामदास के नेतृत्व वाली पीएमके द्वारा अन्नाद्रमुक के साथ गठजोड़ करने की अटकलों के बीच कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेताओं का उसे यूपीए में बनाए रखने का अंतिम प्रयास जारी है। हालांकि पीएमके नेता रामदास ने मंगलवार को कहा कि पार्टी ने आगामी लोकसभा चुनाव की रणनीति अभी तय नहीं की है। इससे पहले चेन्नई से खबरें आई थीं कि छह सांसदों वाली यह पार्टी केंद्र के यूपीए गठबंधन से नाता तोड़ लेगी।
सूत्रों के मुताबिक रामदास ने नई दिल्ली में पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेताओं अहमद पटेल और गुलाम नबी आजाद से मुलाकात की। हालांकि सोनिया गांधी ने कहा कि तमिलनाडु में यूपीए गठबंधन में कोई बदलाव नहीं किया गया है। रामदास के इस्तीफे की अटकलें चेन्नई से रवाना होने के बाद से ही लगाई जा रही थीं। लेकिन दिल्ली पहुंचते ही रामदास ने सोनिया के राजनीतिक सचिव अहमद पटेल से हुई मुलाकात के बाद पत्रकारों से कहा, त्नहमने गठबंधन पर चर्चा की। अभी कुछ तय नहीं हुआ है। मेरी पार्टी की आम बैठक गुरुवार को होगी, तभी गठबंधन में रहने या नहीं रहने का फैसला किया जाएगा। सभी मुद्दों पर फैसला उसी दिन हो पाएगा।
इससे पहले तमिलनाडु कांग्रेस भी सोमवार को पीएमके को गठबंधन से जोड़े रखने का आखिरी प्रयास कर चुकी थी। लेकिन उसका यह प्रयास विफल रहा क्योंकि माना जाता है कि रामदास अन्नाद्रमुक से हाथ मिलाने का मन पूरी तरह बना चुके हैं। पीएमके के लिए अपने सभी दरवाजे बंद कर चुके द्रमुक प्रमुख एम. करुणानिधि ने कल रात कहा कि तमिलनाडु में द्रमुक के नेतृत्व वाले मोर्चे में सिर्फ कांग्रेस, आईयूएमएल, एमएनके और वीसीके ही है। करुणानिधि ने यह खुलासा द्रमुक के नेतृत्व वाले मोर्चे के घटकों के बारे में पूछे गए सवाल पर किया था। उनकी यह टिप्पणी प्रदेश कांग्रेस समिति के अध्यक्ष केवी थंगकाबालू और कांग्रेस विधायक दल के नेता डी. सुदर्शनम से मुलाकात के बाद आई है।

Sending a clear message that the PMK would have no place in the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA), Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Tuesday lambasted PMK founder S Ramadoss over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
Taking strong exception to the charge of Ramadoss that Karunanidhi had washed his hands off the Lankan Tamils issue in the name of India’s sovereignty, the DMK chief countered the PMK leader by accusing him of dropping the Lankan Tamils issue and using his time to bargain for seats for the Lok Sabha elections.
Karunanidhi said that those in the Sri Lankan Tamils Protection Movement had now stopped using words such as Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Kilinochi. Instead, they were now working overtime to complete seat sharing for the Lok Sabha elections.
“People like Dr Ramadoss have been issuing statements on Lankan Tamils issue just to show that they are more concerned about the issue than me,” he said in a sarcastic note.
Karunanidhi said if the members of the Sri Lankan Tamils Protection Movement think that they are the true protectors of the Lankan Tamils, they were free to lead an army to wage a war against the island nation.
