हालांकि इस मौक़े पर बुधवार को आयोजित भोज के दौरान दोनों नेताओं की मुलाक़ात हुई।
दुनिया भर में छाई आर्थिक मंदी से निपटने के लिए विश्व के अमीर और विकासशील देशों के संगठन जी-20 की बैठक इन दिनों लंदन में चल रही है।
इसके पहले इन दोनों नेताओं ने पाकिस्तान और अफ़ग़ानिस्तान में चरमपंथी तत्वों पर गहरी चिंता जताई थी।
उल्लेखनीय है कि एक ब्रितानी अख़बार से साक्षात्कार में मनमोहन सिंह ने पाकिस्तान को विश्व में आतंकवाद की धुरी कहा है और यह भी कहा कि पाकिस्तान चरमपंथियों के ख़िलाफ़ कारगर क़दम उठाने में विफल रहा है।
दूसरी ओर राष्ट्रपति ओबामा ने कहा कि 'विश्व समुदाय अफ़ग़ानिस्तान और पाकिस्तान में चरमपंथ को ख़त्म करने के लिए आवश्यक ध्यान देगा।'
ब्राउन से मुलाक़ात प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह ने इस से पहले ब्रितानी प्रधानमंत्री गॉर्डन ब्राउन के साथ अपनी मुलाक़ात में अंतरराष्ट्रीय बैंकिंग प्रणाली में पारदर्शिता लाने की ज़रूरत पर बल दिया।
गॉर्डन ब्राउन मनमोहन सिंह और ब्राउन की मुलाक़ात के दौरान विभिन्न मुद्दों पर बात हुई।
दोनों के बीच एक घंटे तक चली मुलाक़ात के बाद विदेश सचिव शिवशंकर मेनन ने कहा कि पारदर्शिता और बैंकिंग प्रणाली में सूचना के आदान प्रदान पर दोनों में सहमति थी।
मनमोहन सिंह और गॉर्डन ब्राउन ने अपनी मुलाक़ात के दौरान पाकिस्तान और अफ़ग़ानिस्तान की स्थिति पर चिंता जताई।
ब्राउन ने कहा कि पाकिस्तानी अधिकारियों को प्रोत्साहित करना होगा कि वे अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुदाय के साथ मिल कर इस समस्या का समाधान करें।

Indian PM Manmohan Singh is set to meet US President Barack Obama for key talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit in London, officials say.
The meeting will be attended by large teams of officials from both sides.
Mr Singh is only holding one-to-one meetings with the president and the British PM at the summit. Officials insist that this is because of time constraints and not because Mr Singh's poor health has meant that he has had to pursue a less rigorous schedule.
President Obama and Prime Minister Singh are also expected to discuss the possibility of greater Indian involvement in Afghanistan, following the announcement last week by the US leader of a new strategy for the country in which he placed great emphasis on "fighting a common enemy".
The PM has been recovering from heart by-pass surgery earlier this year.
In October the US Congress ended India's three-decade-long nuclear isolation with an overwhelming Senate vote in favour of a civilian nuclear agreement with Delhi and officials say that Thursday's meeting will build on the goodwill that emanated from that.
The deal enabled US companies to sell nuclear reactors, fuel and technology to India after a ban of more than three decades on such trade.
It also marked a major shift in US foreign policy towards a country where relations in the past have been marked by mutual distrust.
The two leaders will be accompanied by large delegations.
The Indian team is said to include National Security Adviser MK Narayanan, Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
The American team comprises Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, National Security Adviser Gen James L Jones and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
