बुचानन की कप्तान नीति महज मजाक : वेंगसरकर - अप्रैल 02, 2009

भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के पूर्व कप्तान दिलीप वेंगसरकर ने इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग (आईपीएल) की कोलकाता टीम के कोच जॉन बुचानन की कई कप्तानों वाली नीति को खेल के साथ मजाक बताया है। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे अजीबोगरीब स्थिति पैदा हो सकती है। वेंगसरकर ने यहां एक प्रमोशनल कार्यक्रम में शिरकत करने के बाद संवाददाताओं से बातचीत में कहा, बुचानन का यह नया प्रयोग उनकी समझ से परे है। अब तक तो मैंने एक ही शख्स के हाथ में टीम की कमान देखी है। अब बुचानन पांच कप्तानों की बात कह रहे हैं।

इससे नाजुक मौके पर टीम के भीतर असमंजस और भ्रम का माहौल बनेगा। बुचानन ने कोलकाता टीम के पिछले कप्तान सौरव गांगुली के साथ ही चार अन्य वरिष्ठ खिलाडियों को भी बारी-बारी से कप्तानी सौंपने की नीति अपनाने का ऎलान करके क्रिकेट जगत में इन दिनों एक नया विवाद खडा कर दिया है।

गांगुली उनके इस फैसले से खुश नहीं हैं और इस पर अपनी असहमति जता चुके हैं। वेंगसरकर ने इस बारे में पूछे जाने पर कहा, गांगुली बहुते अच्छे कप्तान रहे हैं और इस प्रयोग को लेकर उनकी नाराजगी जायज भी है। आखिर मैदान के भीतर कोई फैसला कौन करेगा। क्या हरेक निर्णय के लिए कोच की इजाजत लेनी होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि ट्वेंटी-20 क्रिकेट का खेल बडी अनिश्चितता वाला है और इसमें कप्तान को तत्काल निर्णय लेना होता है। इस लिहाज से बुचानन का यह प्रोयग एक मजाक जैसा ही दिखता है।

Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar on Tuesday described John Buchanan’s concept of multiple captains for the Kolkata Knight Riders as a mockery of the game. For the moment, though, the doctrine has put kept on hold. Speaking during a promotional organised by Pepsi, Vengsarkar said that Buchanan’s idea would never work in the game of cricket.“Cricket has seen a lot of changes because of T20,” said the former chief selector. “But this idea of having multiple captains is simply ridiculous. I shall be happy to see Sourav Ganguly being retained as captain,” Vengsarkar said.

“There could be a situation where one team has to score six runs from one ball and Sourav might find four people giving him different advises.“In that case, Sourav should turn towards Buchanan and ask him ‘what should I do? After all, it was your idea’. Frankly, such an idea is not going to work. It is nothing but a mockery of the game,” Vengsarkar explained.

“I don’t know whether you are aware that the Indian board was the last one to agree to T20 format. So, when we were asked to pick up a side that would fit into that format, it was not an easy task.So we picked him ahead of everyone and we won the World Cup,” Vengsarkar said.Recalling the three centuries he scored at Lord’s, Vengsarkar said his first innings at the Mecca of cricket produced no run.
