उत्तरप्रदेश के सिद्धार्थनगर जिले के डुमरियागंज स्थित भारतीय स्टेट बैंक की एक शाखा में रिजर्व बैंक की टीम द्वारा की गई छापामारी में 30 लाख रुपये के जाली नोट बरामद हुए।
साथ ही 70 लाख रुपये का घपला भी सामने आया। इस मामले में बैंक के कैशियर समेत 20 लोगों के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज किया गया।
सिद्धार्थनगर के पुलिस अधीक्षक एके चतुर्वेदी ने बताया कि विशेष कार्रवाई दल (एसटीएफ) द्वारा पिछले दिनों पांच लाख रुपये के जाली नोटों के साथ गिरफ्तार हुए आबिद ने पूछताछ में बताया था कि वह जाली नोट कैशियर सुधाकर त्रिपाठी से लाया था, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने सुधाकर को 29 जुलाई को हिरासत में ले लिया।
चतुर्वेदी ने कहा कि पूछताछ में उसने बताया कि वह बैंक में ही जाली नोटों को खपाता था। पुलिस द्वारा इसकी सूचना रिजर्व बैंक के अधिकारियों को दी गई, जिसके बाद सोमवार को बैंक में छापा मारा गया।

LUCKNOW: A team of senior Reserve Bank of India (RBI) officials seized counterfeit Indian currency worth Rs 3 lakh from the main chest of State Bank of India’s Dumariaganj branch in Sidharth Nagar on Monday.
Currency notes of the chest, which has a total of over Rs 100 crore in cash, were being screened by the officials. The team also found that Rs 70 lakh were missing from the chest. It is suspected that these notes, too, were counterfeit and hence removed before the screening began.
The RBI team had handed over a complaint to the Dumariaganj police to register an FIR in connection with the seizure. The raid followed a letter from the Special Task Force (STF) requesting screening of currency in the vaults and chests of banks particularly those located in the interiors of seven districts along UP’s border with Nepal.
Bank chest is the main vault of a nationalised bank in every district where branches of all the other banks in the district keep their safe deposits to use as running cash.
Initial tally of balance revealed that the chest had Rs 70 lakh missing as compared to the total balance mentioned in the bank’s documents. By 3 pm on Monday, the team had already sorted out counterfeit currency worth Rs 3 lakh, all in the denomination of Rs 1000. The screening was underway when reports last came in late on Monday evening.
