नई दिल्ली. राज्यसभा सदस्य और प्रधानमंत्री की आर्थिक पैनल के पूर्व चेयरमैन सी रंगराजन ने उम्मीद जताई है कि दिसंबर तक मुद्रास्फीति घटकर 10 फीसदी हो सकती है। सोमवार को फिक्की द्वारा आयोजित सेमिनार में रंगराजन ने कहा कि पिछले वर्ष दिसंबर के अंत तक मुद्रास्फीति नरम पड़ी थी।

बेस इफेक्ट वर्तमान में इसे बढ़ाने का काम करेगा। मुद्रास्फीति के पिछले वर्ष के स्तर का असर उसके वर्तमान आंकड़ों पर पड़ता है, जिसे बेस इफेक्ट कहते हैं। पिछले वर्ष मुद्रास्फीति कम रही हो तो तुलना करने पर इस वर्ष वह ज्यादा प्रतीत होती है।

NEW DELHI: Expressing optimism that the improved industrial growth in July would continue in the days ahead, Rajya Sabha member and former head of the PM’s economic panel C Rangarajan has said inflation may also come down to 10% by December from over 12% at present.

“My estimate is that probably by December, inflation rate may go down to 10%,” Mr Rangarajan told reporters on the sidelines of a Ficci seminar on financial inclusion here on Monday.

The former RBI governor said inflation last year was moderate towards the end of December, so base effect will heighten inflation in the current year. The base effect relates to the impact on inflation because of its level in the year-ago period. If inflation is low in the year-ago period, the comparative inflation in the current year would look higher. Inflation stood at 12.1% for the week ended August 30 despite moderation for the third week in a row.
