भाजपा और सपा ने रेलमंत्री लालू प्रसाद यादव द्वारा शुक्रवार को संसद में पेश अंतरिम रेल बजट को महज चुनावी बजट बताते हुए आरोप लगाया कि यादव खुद की घोषित 138 परियोजनाओं को पूरा नहीं कर सके हैं।
भाजपा ने मांग की कि रेलमंत्री को पिछले पांच रेल बजटों का प्रदर्शन बजट भी पेश करना चाहिए, ताकि देश जान सके कि उनकी अब तक की बजट घोषणाओं का सच क्या है।
भाजपा महासचिव अनंत कुमार ने रेल बजट पर प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि हर बार की तरह इस बार नई रेल परियोजनाओं का ऐलान किया गया, लेकिन पुरानी परियोजना की स्थिति का कोई ब्यौरा नहीं दिया गया। उन्होंने कहा कि इस प्रवृत्ति पर रोक लगनी चाहिए और पहले घोषित की जा चुकी परियोजनाओं को प्राथमिकता के आधार पर पूरा किया जाना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि बजटीय घोषणाएं रेलमंत्री के मन की खोट भी उजागर करती है।
भाजपा के ही सी पी ठाकुर ने कहा कि यह अंतरिम बजट नहीं बल्कि चुनावी बजट है और यात्री किराए में कटौती एक चुनावी फंडा है। उन्होंने कहा कि रेलमंत्री ने न तो पुरानी घोषणाओं को पूरा किया और न ही लंबित योजनाओं को पूरा करने में कोई तेजी दिखाई।
भाजपा के शाहनवाज हुसैन ने रेलमंत्री द्वारा रेल भाडे़ में की गई कटौती को ऊंट के मुंह में जीरा बताते हुए कहा कि आज जब एयरलाइंस किराए में 30-40 प्रतिशत कम कर रही है ऐसे में रेल भाड़े में एक-दो प्रतिशत की कटौती कोई खास मायने नहीं रखती। उन्होंने कहा कि यादव के बजट में शब्दों की जादूगरी ज्यादा होती है।
दूसरी ओर कांग्रेस के कपिल सिब्बल ने रेल मंत्रालय की पिछले पांच सालों के कामकाज की तारीफे करते हुए कहा कि रेलमंत्री ने जो कर दिखाया वैसा पहले कभी नहीं हुआ। उन्होंने कहा कि रेल मंत्रालय जितनी मजबूत आर्थिक स्थिति में आज है वह रेलमंत्री की एक बड़ी उपलब्धि ही कही जाएगी। कांग्रेस के ज्योतिरादित्य सिंधिया ने भी अंतरिम रेल बजट को जनहित का बजट करार देते हुए इस बात पर भी संतोष व्यक्त किया कि इसमें मध्यप्रदेश का विशेष ध्यान रखा गया है।

The interim railway budget yielded precious little for the city with no new trains from Pune being announced. The sole reprieve was the proposed increase in carriage space as Pune division has seen a nine per cent increase in passenger traffic in the last nine months, with people moving from air travel to trains.
There were two Pune-specific announcements by Union Rail Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav: the Pune-Patna express that ran four times a week will now run daily; the new Kolhapur-Dhanbad weekly train will also pass through Pune.
Puneites are not impressed by the two per cent cut in fares, seeing it in the context of the rise in airfares. Pune airport director G Chandramouli said this year traffic from Lohegaon has seen no increase since the previous year. “Traffic has been hampered by the recession and increasing airfares,” he said.
Pune divisional railway manager D K Jain said the passenger rail traffic has grown nine per cent this fiscal. Pune station sees around 1 lakh passengers every day - both short and long distance. “Now we can accommodate more passengers by increasing coaches or seats,” said Jain. “Demand is actually up 20 per cent but we are managing to accommodate only nine per cent of it,” he said.
Among the major disappointments was the Pune-New Delhi superfast express that the minister had announced in the last railway budget and was to be in place for the Commonwealth Youth Games last October. Pune MP Suresh Kalmadi had then promised that the train would be made permanent. That has not happened.
Pune Pravasi Sangh president Kanubhai Trivedi blasted Kalmadi: “Last month, Narayanbhai Rathawa, Minister of State for Railways, had said the proposal for the Pune-New Delhi train had been given the green signal with only the final approval signature from the Rail Minister pending. What is the local MP doing?”
Hemant Tapale, president of the Pune-Mumbai Railway Pravasi Sangh said the Railway Minister had only taken care of Bihar. “At least the Pune-Delhi train should have come through,” he said. The association has also been calling for an increase in the frequency of trains to Mumbai.
Equally disappointed are Keralites whose longstanding demand for daily connectivity to Thiruvananthapuram has once again fallen flat. The two trains (for New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram) figured prominently in the Pune Railway Division’s annual proposal sent to the ministry before the rail budget this year.
