नई दिल्ली : पिछले कई दिनों से हिंसक आंदोलन से जूझ रहे जम्मू-कश्मीर की स्थिति के बारे में प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह ने आज अपने कैबिनेट के वरिष्ठ सदस्यों से चर्चा की। प्रधानमंत्री ने विदेश मंत्री प्रणव मुखर्जी, रक्षा मंत्री एके एंटनी और गृहमंत्री शिवराज पाटिल के साथ अमरनाथ भूमि विवाद से उत्पन्न स्थिति और समस्या के संभावित हल के बारे में विचार-विमर्श किया।
लगभग 75 मिनट की इस बैठक में समझा जाता है कि मुखर्जी ने बृहस्पतिवार की रात जम्मू-कश्मीर के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री गुलाम नबी आजाद और प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सैफुद्दीन सोज से राज्य के ताजा हालात पर विस्तार से हुई चर्चा का ब्योरा दिया। इस गंभीर विषय पर हुई चर्चा में कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी के राजनीतिक सचिव अहमद पटेल भी शामिल थे।
अमरनाथ भूमि विवाद से संबंधित पक्षों के साथ वार्ता के लिए केन्द्र द्वारा नए समूह के गठन के कदमों के बीच हुई इस बैठक को महत्वपूर्ण माना जा रहा है। प्रधानमंत्री ने शुक्रवार को स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर अपने भाषण में सीमावर्ती राज्य के हालात पर चिंता जताई थी और अमरनाथ मामले पर विभाजनकारी राजनीति के खिलाफ कठोर टिप्पणी की थी। मनमोहन ने राजनीतिक दलों से कहा था कि वे धर्म के आधार पर विभाजनकारी राजनीति नहीं करें। उन्होंने सलाह दी कि जम्मू-कश्मीर की समस्याओं के स्थाई हल के लिए राजनीतिक दल विभाजन की राजनीति की बजाय सहमति की राजनीति को अपनाएं।

NEW DELHI: Baffled by the fast turn of events in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre is struggling hard to find a way to bring the warring sections in the state to a common platform.
While the Centre is alarmed over the impunity with which people both in Jammu and Kashmir have been turning out in droves to defy curfews, challenging the government’s authority, a panic-stricken prime minister Manmohan Singh is toying with the idea of setting up another back-channel initiative to open a dialogue with representatives of the two regions.
Singh has reportedly been interacting with people such as chief information commissioner Wajahat Habibullah, an IAS officer of the J&K cadre and a known Kashmir hand. The government is also said to be reverting back to the former RAW chief AS Dulat who has been in the thick of action in Kashmir even after his retirement from the coveted post years back. But nothing tangible has so far emerged from these efforts.
On the political front, the home ministry’s complete inability to anticipate the events in J&K and provide solutions for the developing situation has led Singh to again look towards his tried and trusted senior colleague, external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee. His advent in the Kashmir arena is being perceived by security experts here as a rebuff to home minister Shivraj Patil for his “inept” handling of the situation and lacking dynamism.
On his part Mukherjee has already held meetings with senior Congress leaders from Kashmir like Ghulam Nabi Azad and union minister Saifuddin Soz among others. It was followed up by detailed meetings with Singh to keep him abreast of the developments and prepare for a future move.
