भारतीय जनता पार्टी के पीलीभीत से उम्मीदवार वरुण गांधी को भड़काऊ बयान देने पर भाजपा के आलाकमान मौन साधे हुए हैं। हालांकि चुनाव आयोग ने वरुण के खिलाफ नोटिस जारी कर दी है।
अरुण जेटली और राजनाथ सिंह के विवाद से पहले ही परेशान भाजपा को वरुण गांधी ने एक बार फिर मुश्किलों में डाल दिया है। वरुण ने सोमवार को उत्तर प्रदेश के पीलीभीत में आयोजित एक जनसभा में मुसलमानों के खिलाफ आपत्तिजनक बयान दिये।
वरुण के बयान पर भाजपा के आलाकमान चुप्पी साधे हुए हैं। हालांकि पार्टी सूत्रों का कहना है कि वरिष्ठ नेता वरुण से खासे नाराज हैं। उधर भाजपा के नेता मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी ने इस बात को यह कहकर टाल दिया कि वरुण के भाषण में उनके परिवार का कांग्रेसी अतीत झलकता है। इसमें भाजपा की परंपरा नहीं दिखती।
वरुण ने रैली में कहा था, यह हाथ नहीं है। यह कमल है। एक अन्य सभा में उन्होंने कहा, 'अगर कोई हिंदुओं की तरफ उंगली उठाएगा या समझेगा कि हिंदू कमजोर हैं और उनका कोई नेता नहीं हैं, अगर कोई सोचता है कि ये नेता वोटों के लिए हमारे जूते चाटेंगे तो मैं गीता की कसम खाकर कहता हूं कि मैं उस हाथ को काट डालूंगा। अगर कोई सोचता है कि ये नेता वोटों के लिए हमारे जूते चाटेंगे तो मैं गीता की कसम खाकर कहता हूं कि मैं उस हाथ को काट डालूंगा।'
उन्होंने कहा, 'गांधीजी कहा करते थे कि कोई इस गाल पर थप्पड़ मारे तो उसके सामने दूसरा गाल कर दो ताकि वह इस गाल पर भी थप्पड़ मार सके। यह क्या है। अगर आपको कोई एक थप्पड़ मारे तो आप उसका हाथ काट डालिए कि आगे से वह आपको थप्पड़ नहीं मार सके।'
अपने भड़काऊ बयान पर वरुण गांधी ने कहा है कि मीडिया ने उनके बयान को तोड़-मरोड़ कर पेश किया है। उन्होंने इसे सोची समझी साजिश करार दिया।

The BJP meeting on Tuesday acquires added significance in light of its young star Varun Gandhi's hate speech in Pilibhit.
He has come under fire from the Congress, the Election Commission and some of his own party leaders for insulting the minority community and speaking dismissively about the father of the nation.
"All the Hindus stay on this side and send the others to Pakistan. This is the Lotus hand, it will cut their throats after elections. They have names such as Karimullah, Mazurullah. If you see them in the night you would get scared," he had said in his rally on Tuesday.
Varun also said that anybody who dares to raise his hand on a Hindu, Varun Gandhi will chop his hand off. These remarks have made the grandson of Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru's great grand son in an extreme right avatar.
These shocking remarks by the young Gandhi, who is fighting his first election from Pilibhit, led to the Election Commission issue him a notice. His father's party the Congress too jumped on the opportunity to point out the contrast to his cousin Rahul and target the BJP.
"It is not just immoral but also illegal. But why are you surprised? This is the ideology of the party that he belongs to and it is very shocking and condemnable," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.
The BJP found it hard to defend Varun Gandhi. Varun, in his official reply to the District Magistrate, may have denied he had made communal remarks, but for this novice politician here is one important lesson the camera doesn't lie.
