लंबी खींचतान के बाद महाराष्ट्र में कांग्रेस और एनसीपी के बीच लोकसभा सीटों के लिए चुनावी तालमेल हो गया है। समझौते के मुताबिक कांग्रेस को प्रदेश की 48 में से 26 और एनसीपी को 22 सीटें मिली हैं। एनसीपी महासचिव तारिक अनवर ने शुक्रवार को इसकी घोषणा की। कांग्रेस की ओर से अभी इस बारे में कुछ नहीं कहा गया है।
तारिक अनवर ने राजधानी में पत्रकारों से चर्चा के दौरान महाराष्ट्र में सीट बंटवारे का फार्मूला तय हो जाने की यह घोषणा की। सीट बंटवारे में मामूली बदलाव के अलावा 2004 के फार्मूले को ही दोहराया गया है। पिछली बार कांग्रेस को 27 और एनसीपी को 21 सीटें प्राप्त हुई थीं। इस बार कांग्रेस को अपनी 26 सीटों में से एक आरपीआई के अठावले गुट को देनी होगी, तो एनसीपी आरपीआई के दूसरे धड़े को एक सीट अपने खाते से देगी।
इस तालमेल में समाजवादी पार्टी को भी एक सीट अबू आजमी के लिया दिया जाना था। लेकिन उत्तर प्रदेश में कांग्रेस और सपा का चुनावी तालमेल टूट जाने के बाद आजमी के लिए सीट छोड़ने का मामला खटाई में पड़ गया है।

The Sharad Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress finally agreed on a seat-sharing agreement in Maharashtra for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. As per the new agreement, out of the total 40 seats in the state, Congress would field its candidates in 26 constituencies, while the NCP would contest from the remaining 22 seats.
The formal announcement was made by senior NCP leader Tariq Anwar here on Friday. The agreement can be seen as an result of the "flexible" approach taken by the Congress as it clearly did not want an repeat of the type of problems it is facing with other allies like the Lalu Yadav led RJD. The NCP on the other hand, it seems did not want to be seen as antagonistic to the Congress at this stage and would be waiting for the results before it makes its next move.
The wait-and-watch approach of the NCP is particularly evident by the clarifications being given by Sharad Pawar on his prime ministerial ambitions: "I know the ground reality, we don't have the numbers to stake claim for the PM's post.'
The Congress is also buying his clarifications at the moment even when it is making it clear time and again that Manmohan Singh is the UPA's PM candidate.
Yesterday, senior party leader Digvijay Singh was quoted as saying that there was nothing wrong if NCP president Sharad Pawar nurtured Prime Ministerial ambitions based on a favourable number game. Digvijay, however, added that such "experiments" did not succeed in Indian democracy.
