पूर्वोत्तर दिल्ली की लोकसभा सीट से उम्मीदवार बने कांग्रेस नेता जगदीश टाइटलर ने कहा है कि वो अपनी उम्मीदवारी का फ़ैसला कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी पर छोड़ रहे हैं। एक प्रेस कांफ्रेंस में उन्होंने कहा कि वो पार्टी के हित में यह फ़ैसला कर रहे हैं कि वो अपनी दावेदारी के लिए दबाव नहीं बनाएंगे और जो सोनिया गांधी का फ़ैसला होगा उसे मानेंगे।
टाइटलर ने कहा कि उनके ख़िलाफ़ कोई केस नहीं है और सिर्फ़ एक हलफ़नामे में उनका नाम लिया गया है जिसकी जांच चल रही है। टाइटलर इस समय दिल्ली से सांसद हैं और परिसीमन के बाद वो पूर्वोत्तर सीट से उम्मीदवार थे।
उनका कहना था, '' मुझे बार बार न्याय मिला है और मैं चुनाव जीता हूं लेकिन मीडिया ने मुझे बदनाम कर दिया। मैं पार्टी को शर्मिन्दा नहीं करना चाहता था।

Jagdish Tytler, the Congress candidate from the North-East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, on Thursday said that if the party wants he will quit. "I am not going to pursue my ticket and leave it to the Congress president to take a decision." Tytler said he was going to meet Sonia Gandhi after the press conference.
"I don't think I should fight (the election)," Tytler told a news conference at his Delhi residence.
"If my stepping down helps, I will do so. The party is bigger than myself," he said. Nobody in the party has approached me (asking me not to contest), added Tytler.
