सिलीगुडी (पश्चिम बंगाल): भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेता और पूर्व विदेश मंत्री जसवंत सिंह ने बृहस्पतिवार को दार्जीलिंग लोकसभा सीट के लिए नामांकन पत्र भरा।
सिंह को अलग गोरखालैंड की मांग कर रहे गोरखा जनमुक्ति मोर्चा का समर्थन हासिल है। सिंह ने दाजीलिंग के उप मंडलीय अधिकारी बी के बिस्वास के कार्यालय में नामांकन पत्र भरा। उनके साथ जीजेएम के अध्यक्ष बिमल गुरूंग और सिंह की पत्नी शीतल कुमारी भी थी। सिंह के पक्ष में जीजेएम के हजारों कार्यकर्ताओं ने नारे लगाए।
जसवंत सिंह के यहां सात अपै्रल को पहुंचने पर जीजेएम के बैनर तले गर्मजोशी से स्वागत हुआ। अपने दो दिन के प्रवास के दौराज भाजपा नेता ने दार्जीलिंग में राजनीतिक दलों तथा अल्पसंख्यक समुदाय के लोगों के साथ साथ कई दौर की बातचीत की।
दार्जीलिंग निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में सात विधानसभा सीट हैं और वहां कुल 5.5 मतदाता हैं। सीट के दो अन्य प्रमुख उम्मीदवार माकपा के जिबस सरकार तथा कांग्रेस के वर्तमान सांसद दवा नोरबुला हैं। जीएनएलएफ के सूत्रों ने बताया कि वह कांग्रेस को समर्थन दे सकता है।

SILIGURI (WB): BJP's high-profile candidate and former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh on Thursday submitted his nomination papers for the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat.
Singh has been backed by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha fighting for a separate state of Gorkhaland. Singh, who was accompanied by GJM president Bimal Gurung, Singh's wife, Sheetal Kumari and his secretary Colonel Bhawani Singh, submitted his nomination papers at the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer, Darjeeling, B K Biswas.
Thousands of GJM workers and supporters with party flags and festoons cheered Singh shouting slogans in his favour.The veteran BJP leader was earlier offered a rousing welcome by the hill people under the GJM banner when he reached the hills on April 7.
During his two-day stay, the BJP leader had several rounds of talks with political parties in the Darjeeling hills and minority communities to ensure that the 5.5 lakh voters in the hills remain undivided.
