ब्रिटेन की राजधानी लंदन में भारतीय उच्चायोग इंडिया हाउस के बाहर स्थापित पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू की प्रतिमा को अज्ञात लोगो ने तोड़ दी है।
उनका अंदेशा है कि इसके पीछे संदिग्ध तमिल प्रदर्शनकारियों के हाथ हो सकते है। हालांकि भारतीय उच्चायोग किसी को भी दोषी ठहराने से इंकार कर रहा है।
नेहरू जी की यह प्रतिमा 1990 में उस समय भारत के हाई कमिश्नर एल एम सिंघवी और लंदन के मेयर के हाथों द्धारा स्थापित की गई थी।
फिलहाल प्रतिमा को तारपुलिन से पुरी तरह ढंक दिया गया है और इसकी पुरी तरह सुरक्षा की व्यवस्था कर दी गई है।
English Translation:
A bust of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has fallen off its pedestal at India Place near the Indian High Commission here and the British police have launched a probe amid reports that Sri Lankan Tamil protesters could be behind the incident.
However, High Commission sources have not blamed anybody for the incident which took place ago.
The statue, a public monument, was unveiled in the 1990s by the then High Commissioner of India L.M. Singhvi and the Mayor of London.
The pedestal is now covered by a tarpaulin.
